Telecommuting in Denver
Have you noticed the price at the pump going up, up, up. Wishing you could telecommute in Denver? Telecommuting in Denver is something J.P. Schwartz, Inc., a Denver / Boulder based I.T. company has realized can benefit both the employee and the employer. Telecommuting in Denver is a work arrangement in which employees have flexibility in their work location and often times in their hours as well.
Telecommuting in Denver has many benefits. It conserves energy and saves on cost of fuel. It is also better for the environment since one of the largest sources of pollution is the automobile. Less cars on the highway during rush hour also promotes safety on the roads.
Telecommuting in Denver provides the employee with less stress because it can help to allow the employee to balance their family and work life, and provide for a comfortable work environment in their own homes. It also empowers the employee to be responsible for their own productivity, which often results in better results than feeling micromanaged by a supervisor all day. Many stay-at-home moms find that telecommuting in Denver allows them to have the best of both worlds by splitting their work hours up between early mornings, nap times, and evenings when their partner can help out while they work. A study mentioned at HRM Guide states “that more than 80 per cent of IBM managers currently agree that productivity increases when flexible working arrangements are made available. In the current economic situation, financial constraints are encouraging more widespread introduction of such schemes.”
The employee benefits by having employees telecommuting in Denver by often seeing increased productivity, happier employees, and greater loyalty to the company. Employers can cut expenses of not having to provide office space, or at least have a smaller space, they can also often times cut expenses if the employee is providing their own computer, office furniture, etc… Some large, well known companies offer telecommuting benefits to their employees, such as Cisco, Intel, and S.C. Johnson.
There are drawbacks, however to telecommuting in Denver. Lack of face to face contact can leave some employees feeling isolated, someone who is telecommuting must be self motivated and well able to focus even in the midst of distractions. Telecommuting employees must be more aware and able to show that their work is productive and of value to their employer. Telecommuting in Denver doesn’t work for everyone, but it is a good option for many companies and their employees.
Technology today enables more employees to telecommute in Denver without feeling so separated and out of touch from their co workers. At J.P. Schwartz, Inc. we utilize VoIP phones, remote access, smart-phones, and other technologies to stay in touch and work together from different locations on a daily basis. Contact J.P. Denver Laptops
Denver, laptops are expensive, and many times run much slower than desktops. Even worse, they seem to get old and slow much faster than a desktop. There are however 3 tricks that can be used to put new life into an old Denver laptop allowing you to put off a purchase for a few more years.
Make sure you have plenty of RAM in the laptop. Often Denver laptop systems ship with considerably less RAM than a desktop would. When you don’t have enough RAM, the system is very slow.
Replace the battery. After about 2 years, most Denver laptop batteries don’t hold a charge nearly as well as they did when they were new. Battery life can also be extended by turning down the brightness on the screen when on battery power. My laptop has a large screen, for a Denver laptop, and I can get an extra half hour out of the battery by dimming the screen.
Replace the hard drive with a new solid state hard drive. These new drives are fast and use less battery power than a traditional drive. On a recent 3 year old Denver laptop, changing from a standard drive to a solid state drive took the boot time from 3 minutes to 30 seconds. While the drive did cost a good bit, it was considerable less than a replacement of the Denver laptop and the system is now faster than many of the new computers at the store.
The technicians at J.P. Schwartz, Inc. are experts in hardware and upgrades for your Denver laptop. If your Denver laptop needs a boost, contact the technicians at J.P. Schwartz, Inc.

DENVER COMPUTER MEMORY
Denver computer memory is easy to understand with a little clarification. Computers use two types of memory – RAM and Hard drives. RAM is used for making programs work while the computer is running. Hard drives are used for storing software, photos, emails, documents, movies, and music. The trick with computers is to make sure you have enough of each kind of memory. Ensuring you have enough of both can increase performance, and allow you to keep your computer much longer before replacing it.
To determine if your system has enough RAM, right click on the taskbar and open task manager. Under physical memory you will find total and available memory. Usually you want the available memory to be at least one third of the total computer memory, or more than 256 MB. On modern systems, less than that and your computer could be running slowly because it is short on RAM.
To determine if your system has enough Hard Disk space, open windows explorer and select a drive. Right click on the drive and choose properties. You will see a total and a free amount. Here you want at ideally 20% or more free, but no less than 2 GB of free space. If you don’t have enough free space you can remove files that you no longer need, or add drive space. Today it is very easy to get an external USB drive and move things like music files that take a lot of space onto the external drive.
If you have questions about your Denver Computer Memory requirements or available memory, the technicians at J.P. Schwartz, Inc. can help you evaluate your Denver Computer Memory. Contact J.P. Schwartz, today for more information.

iPad in Business – is this a good idea or not?
Everyone is buzzing about the ipad. And why not? It is a fun, new piece of technology, and with the recent release of the iPad2 it’s new features make it even more appealing. Features such as being thinner and lighter, the new dual core A5 chip making it twice as fast, dual cameras (for face time, pictures, and video), and up to 10 hours of battery life. Not to mention the new stylish yet useful cover and new apps.
iPad in Business – How does that work?
Video mirroring allows you to connect the ipad to your HDTV and it will mirror exactly what you are doing on your ipad. This is a great alternative to the bulky overhead projector.
Sending Email and web surfing has now been made faster with the new Dual-Core A5 Chip.
Full 10 hours of battery life, this is much more that you would get with a laptop, making it great for travel on those short business trips.
You can also use Calendar, Notes, and apps that will allow you review and edit common office documents such as Microsoft Office and iWork.
iPad in Business – IT
According to the Apple web site there are available Apps for the iPad that can display IT dashboards, allow access to remote desktops and allow you to manage network resources such as servers.
The Drawbacks to iPad in Business?
Tech Republic points out the top 3 Drawbacks to using iPad in business settings. (http://tinyurl.com/46hy2mw)
Being locked in to the Apple ecosystems is not always looked favorably upon, especially in IT departments. Tweaking a system, changing configuration settings, or building a custom application is difficult if not impossible in Apples rigid ecosystem.
The iPad only runs one application at a time for the most part; this makes multitasking a bit more cumbersome, something most business professionals must do. Although it is sure to be top of the list for upgrades.
And of course, for all the excitement over the new tablet, the iPad still doesn’t replace your laptop or desktop as your primary computer, and can’t replace your smartphone either. So that leaves the iPad in Business as simply an add on device for most industries.
At J.P. Schwartz, Inc. we stay on top of all the latest technologies, so
you don’t have to. We can help you decipher all the new technologies and what fits with your business and budget the best, to help you be successful in business. Contact us today for a consultation.

My Google Wave Experience -
It is a long video, but it is very cool as it shows so many of the features of wave, some of which are not available in the preview version.
Wave is a way to communicate and collaborate in real time. For chatting, it acts more as a real conversation would, I can see what the other person is typing and actually formulate and start typing my response as I am reading their message. Drag and Drop features, API’s, Extensions, and mobile abilities are some of the features that make Google Wave so user friendly, fun, and useful.
So here I am, I am producing this document in Google Wave. If I wanted, I could colaborate on this document right here in Wave with my friends or co-workers.
Wave is real time, so as I am typing this paragraph, they can be editing the last one for me! What a great time saver that can be! The video above was as easy as pasting a URL into this document and Wave asked me if I would like to embed the video, it actually detected that it was a video link all on its own. Smart, huh?
I see how this will be a great tool in the workplace. The ability to collaborate on any document with such ease, make travel plans complete with Maps together on line, update your blog from a wave, leave a tweet on Twitter, play games together, search and organize your waves, combine bits and pieces of waves together to make a new document, even chat with others that speak a different language than you, the possibilities are seemingly endless with Wave.
Come along on my Wave journey. I will update frequently on my experiences with Wave and how you may want to use it when your time comes:) Let’s make some Waves!
